Community Stations

The community is situated within the Wujal Wujal Aboriginal Shire, which encompasses the traditional lands of the Kuku Yalanji, Kuku Nyungul, and Jalunji clans. These groups are collectively known as the “rainforest people,” with a deep connection to the land and its cultural heritage.

As of the 2021 census, Wujal Wujal had a population of 276 residents. The Wujal Wujal Aboriginal Shire Council governs the area, providing essential services such as housing, infrastructure, and community development.

The region's rich cultural heritage is showcased at the Bana Yirriji Art & Cultural Centre, where visitors can learn about local traditions, view Indigenous artworks, and participate in cultural activities.

Wujal Wujal is also a gateway to the Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation, offering opportunities for eco-tourism, bushwalking, and wildlife observation. The community welcomes visitors to experience its natural beauty and cultural significance.
